Serving Tachtas Douloufakis White wine

This bouquet is characterized by a sweet sensation that is also found on the pallet in the form of softness and roundness. Characteristics that are combined with its moderate body, and make Tachtas particularly versatile at the table. “Tachtas” would accompany well with white meat and pasta au gratin, but also many exotic recipes that contain curry or turmeric would make a great combination with this wine.

Unclouded opulence on the nose, blessing it with yellow pumpkin and cantaloupe, backed by a stone-fruit reading of greengage and apricot of softer intensity, all within an overall oily, rich expression. Ripe yellow buttery flowers, blossom honey, and a faint herbal hint in a discreetly spicy setting, with a very light passing note of silo and barley.
Fleshy, commanding, with great breadth across the full palate.
Rich and of very good texture, the honeyed fruit follows the opulent aromatic direction to the letter, delivered with plenty of fat and butter, counterbalanced by a lively, wave-like acidity that lifts its heavy style. Although the needle points to 13% alcohol, it can by no means be called light or northern-European in style; its overall warm expression is supported by a strong phenolic, almost tannic structure, while the firm spicy framework with gentle herbal notes is quickly relieved after the mid-palate by a clearly defined mineral line.
A well-built, above-average finish, where the tireless work of the phenolics in the mouth is met by an active mineral counterpoint. Sufficiently spicy and honeyed, it partly awakens its herbal theme before moving into an earthy tone with a nutty hint reminiscent of bulgur soaked in water. The sulphur burns cleanly.
